Dolibarr 24 is out, along with the 23.0.4 maintenance release
Dolibarr 24.0.0 and the 23.0.4 maintenance release have been available since 20 August 2026. Here is what changes, what to watch for and how your SME should proceed.

Two releases published on 20 August 2026
The Dolibarr project published two releases on 20 August 2026. The first is 24.0.0, a new major version. The second is 23.0.4, a maintenance release of the 23 branch, which follows 23.0.3 of 18 May 2026. They do not serve the same need. Version 24.0.0 brings features and a few changes in behaviour. Version 23.0.4 fixes defects without changing the nature of your instance. If you run version 23 in production, the second is the simplest update to consider right away. If you are planning a major version change, the first calls for a bit more method. We covered the previous major version in our article on what is new in Dolibarr 23. This article relies on the release notes published by the project for 24.0.0 and 23.0.4, and adds nothing to them.
What 23.0.4 fixes
The list of fixes is long and covers very practical areas. On invoicing, it deals with wrong amounts on progress invoices (factures de situation), notably a credit note in progressive mode and incorrect VAT on the PDF after conversion into difference lines. It also fixes the 1 January 1970 date applied when cloning a supplier order. On stock, several defects in kit shipments are resolved. On multi-currency, the code and rate were not always saved on supplier payments and discounts. Accounting also gets fixes, for example the chart of accounts export and period closing. One line is classified as security: a privilege escalation to administrator, possible for a user who has the clone permission. The notes give no further detail, and we will not add any. That single line is enough reason to plan the update.
What is new in 24.0.0
Version 24.0.0 is a rich release. The release notes mention an experimental Quick memo module for placing sticky notes on screens, an MCP server and an AI assistant both presented as experimental, and a stabilised stock transfer module. The web portal now handles interventions and tickets. Invoices generated from a template can be sent automatically. Accounting receives many changes: multiple reports, a choice between accrual and cash accounting, and transaction templates. There is also access restriction by CIDR range, the ability to force a password change, and direct installation of free modules from DoliStore. The Salaries module can generate PDF documents. For an SME, the benefit depends on your own usage: read the full list of changes before choosing a date.
Breaking changes to check before moving to 24
The 24.0.0 release notes contain an explicit warning: some changes may cause regressions for external modules. Function filters must now follow the universal search syntax, and non-compliant forms are no longer accepted. Login APIs are disabled by default: you must use the bearer token, or enable the API_ENABLE_LOGIN_API option. The PAYMENT_SECURITY_TOKEN_UNIQUE option is removed, and the online signature key now uses salting by default, which may invalidate old links. The info_admin hook becomes messageOfTheDay. The old, deprecated Paybox and Trip modules are removed. In practical terms, if an in-house connector or a third-party module calls the API with a login and password, it will stop working until you adapt the configuration.
A cautious path for your instance
Our recommendation has two steps. First, apply 23.0.4 if you are on 23, since it is a maintenance release that includes a security fix. Then treat 24.0.0 as a project, not a single click. The following points are a reasonable minimum.
- Back up the database and the documents directory, then check that the restore really works.
- Install the new version on a copy of your instance, never directly in production.
- List your external modules and API connections, and compare them with the warning in the release notes.
- Have the relevant users test a full cycle: quote, order, invoice, payment and accounting export.
- Choose a switch date outside any closing period or heavy invoicing run.
Making the update easier and getting support
The DolicraftUpgrade module automates the backup of the database and files before each operation, offers a rollback and preserves conf.php, documents and custom. It is announced as compatible with Dolibarr 16 to 23, which covers your move to 23.0.4. We cannot state that it supports version 24: check its product page before any use. For 24.0.0, the central question remains your modules and integrations. Our team can audit your instance, test the switch on a copy and fix what needs fixing. See our migration and maintenance pages, then contact us with your current version and the list of your modules. We will tell you whether 23.0.4 is enough for now or whether 24 deserves to be planned.
